Before you start writing down your goals you have to ask yourself some questions. What life do I have now? what am I unhappy with just now? what do I need to change and why? what has to change first? how do I change this?
Change is what setting goals is all about and unless you are prepared to change everything you are not going to succeed. Write down your life, put a heading on different sheets of paper covering all the main areas, Work, Family, Friendships, Money, Hobbies, Possessions (home, car, ect.) Now on each sheet put two sub headings, Happy and Unhappy. Now start listing all the things you are happy with in each section. These are the building blocks of change in your life. In order to change your life successfully you have to build on the things that you are happy with. Now on each sheet start writing the things in each area that make you unhappy or stressed. These are the things you are going to change or get rid of. Look at this exercise as a spring clean of your current life. Before you start any major home improvements or changes you sort out the rubbish from the stuff you value and want to keep. This is exactly what you are going to do with your own life.
Before you move on to set goals that will change your life you need a clean slate so that you can build without any clutter of distractions. Once you have completed the lists ask yourself which one needs attention the most, mark this sheet No.1, then go though each sheet and give it a number of priority. Now you have your starting point. Sheet No1 and the first thing on the list that makes you unhappy. Ask yourself why this makes you unhappy and how you can change this and write down your plan of action. Give yourself a date that you want to complete this task and then move on to the sheet you prioritised No.2 and tackle the first thing on that list that makes you unhappy. Keep working though all the sheets until you have sorted all the top things in each area that makes you unhappy, you then move on to No.2 on each list in order of priority that you gave it until you have sorted out everything that makes you unhappy.
If you do this properly and complete this task your life will have improved 100% ! and that is before you set that goals of things you want to achieve. You will be set for success because you have nothing or very little in your life that has a negative influence over you and the strong happy positive attitude you should now have will push you towards the life you really want.

I'm glad I visited today. To say that I have benefited is an understatement. Today I reported in the office feeling very low following some uncomfortable situation I found myself in yesterday. I think it's God's way of intervening because this is the first site I visited today just by chance. Then I came across "The answers are easy, it's the questions that are difficult" post. It addressed most of my fears. It was like consulting a doctor. Thanks and you'll be hearing from me again.
